Unreal

Bluff Eversmoking is the twenty-fourth map of the single-player mode of Unreal.

Map description[]

The player's journey brings him to Bluff Eversmoking, a remote Nali monastery perched high on a crag above a vast mountain lake. Distantly, the enchanted bell tower tolls a mournful rhythm as the oppressed and imprisoned monks of the monastery await salvation by the messiah.

Trivia[]

  • Pelit and Myscha, two of the names which can be read in the cemetery area's tombs, are named after Elliot Cannon's mascots, who passed away some time during Unreal's development. This is also evidenced by taking a look at the Unreal manual's credits section, which reads "In memoriam of Myscha and Pelit".
  • Former Legend Entertainment employee Matthias Worch revealed in his post-mortem about Unreal Mission Pack: Return to Na Pali that he didn't liked the map at first as he felt it was "too unbelievable", but over time he warmed up to it.[1]
  • Levelshots for the map were added in the OldUnreal version 227j patch.
  • According to the localization files, the tomb Myscha (the mapper) dedicated to Myscha (the mascot), was going to feature another fictional dead character, the inscription being "High Priest Na'Then of Yurash 450-561".
