CTF-Kosov (whose full name is Kosov Canyon) is a map appearing in Unreal Tournament.


Map description Edit

An asymmetrical map set in a huge valley. Red base is a temple, while blue base is a facility. Between both bases, there are two paths: one is the Kosov Valley which comprises the big river and the Redeemer cliff. The other is the Kosov Falls, featuring the eponymous falls. At both sides, the water isn't suited for swimming, so stay away from it.

The Blue Base is divided in three areas, only two of which has a name, the eponymous Base and the Cave (the Red Falls entrance). The other areas are the Blue Armor (a small chamber with two teleports located next to the Flag Base) and the Blue Valley Entrance. Meanwhile, the Red Base has only one entrance, by way of a long corridor which connects both the Falls and the Valley with the base and with each other.

The map also makes use of teleporters to get to the Sniper areas:

  • Blue Kosov Valley Sniper: From the Blue Armor area, Northwest elbow, and back.
  • Blue Kosov Falls Sniper: From the Blue Armor area, Southeast elbow, one-way.
  • Red Kosov Valley Sniper and the Red Kosov Falls Sniper: From the Red Base, lower level next to the Red flag, one-way. Also from the Red Corridor, in an opening near the entrance, and back.

Tips and tricks Edit

  • Each base has its perks:
    • The Red Base has quick switching between the Sniper areas by way of a corridor (the Blue Side must switch with teleporters), and a solitary entrance acting as a bottleneck.
    • The Blue Base has easier access to its Armor and the Redeemer, and can exploit both of the entrances, one of which also includes a hazard.
  • Translocators are extremely important in this map. They usually open new attacking areas.
  • Access to armor: the Blue base has a piece of armor right next to their Base. Red one, meanwhile, is at an entrance, so it's vulnerable to timing.
  • If you're attacking, get the Jump Boots at any base. That speeds the recovery of the flag and their no-falling-damage property also opens new escape paths by falling from the Sniper ledges.

"After finishing my work on UT I realized most of the maps would be good for 10 players max. It's still decent with more players but I wanted to make something big enough to allow a lot of players without feeling to crowded so I made Crane, Kosov and High Towers. I think these maps will be playable with up to 32 players."
