Unreal

DmCreek (a.k.a. Blood Creek) is a Deathmatch map for Unreal. It was meant to come with the Special Edition of the game.

Map description[]

A very small Chizra temple-based map, mostly one-layered, with plenty of areas to travel. We're going to refer to these areas by a color, except a selected few due to being water areas, thus part of a certain area, unless otherwise marked. The map has some features, but its otherwise pretty straightforward.

First, at the very north of the map, is the Ramps area (purple), which is composed by a water ledge (light yellow) and a series of stairs and ramps leading to several areas. The area is connected at the south with the lower level of the Bridges area (green) through a corner starting with a door near the stairs (orange) and the Corners area (dark blue) surrounding it leading also to the aforementioned lower level; this Corners area has a room containing a water pool (dark green); this area also hosts several shooting openings to the water pool of the Corners area (below the wooden walkway) and a series of openings overlooking the area, which become accessible by way of a platform to an upper level. At the east side of the stairs there's a static platform overlooking a water area ending in a cascade (the cascade itself is colored light blue), from which the player can appreciate the aforementioned wooden upper walkway, while at the other side of the stairs there's a dark corner leading onto the Ramps area's big wooden walkway.

Tips and tricks[]

Trivia[]

  • This map comes with Unreal Special Edition, a special OEM version considered the closest thing to a shareware release of the game only featuring weapons up to the Flak Cannon, alongside DmBayC and DmKrazy.
  • The map appeared in the Unreal Tournament betas. Needless to say, it didn't made the cut.
  • The map has a hidden level entry text: "This doesn't really work, but Tim left it in the game anyways." It's a reference to the levelentrytext property itself, as the field had no effect whatsoever until the development of the then-named "BotPack" came in with version 220. Before version 220, the property was non-functional so Cliff Bleszinski was referring to that.
  • Levelshots for the map were added in the OldUnreal version 227j patch.
